The event, which is happening between February 1st and 4th in São Paulo, is dedicated to generating business in the contemporary home furnishings industry

The world continues to change like never before. The coronavirus pandemic has been a major impetus for change, altering customer habits. Industry is having to react to this change. It needs to be flexible, resilient and, above all, creative. The good news is that, even in times of crisis, the Brazilian furniture industry can still achieve positive results. That is what the ‘Map of the Market’ study shows, produced by the Impulso Institute and based on data from the IBGE. The prediction in ‘Map of the Market’ is that, by the end of 2021, furniture sales will reach R$ 65.2 billion, up 4.5% on 2019.

Based on this optimistic forecast and the principles “Resignify, Communicate, Inspire and Reveal", the Brazilian Contemporary Home Furnishings Association (ABIMAD, Portuguese acronym) has announced the launch of ABIMAD’33. The fair is considered to be the leading high-end furniture and decor fair in Latin America and the only one in the industry focused on business.

The event is scheduled for February 1st to 4th, at São Paulo Expo, and marks the start of the Brazilian calendar of sector-related fairs, bringing together the biggest names in furniture, accessories and decoration, to showcase the latest features and main trends in the market to a select audience of retailers and buyers from Brazil and abroad. There will be over 120 exhibitors, spread over an area of 50,000 m2 and it is expected to draw over 20,000 visitors.

“Unfortunately, because of the restrictions due to the pandemic, we haven’t been able to hold the fair in the last two years. However, we are extremely optimistic that ABIMAD’33 will be the perfect stage for our exhibitors and visitors to do business, principally around quality furnishings. ABIMAD is an established fair, which is nearly 20 years old. In 2022 it will resume, with an even greater focus on business and results for our members”, explains Michel Otte, president of ABIMAD.

Another attraction at the fair is the round tables on international business, organized by the ABIMAD Export project, which are a way to encourage members to export. The business round tables will include participants from more than 50 importing companies from countries such as Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, the USA, Mozambique, Panama, Paraguay, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Venezuela and Portugal.
