Artefama invests in the present
thinking of the future
Artefama has a large, modern industrial facility,
over 60,000 m
2
developed area, located in São Bento
do Sul SC, considered one of the state of Santa
Catarina’s most charming cities, with its mountain
climate, rich European culture and a century-old
reputation for furniture production.
Since the very beginning, Artefama has shown its
concern for the environment, especially with the
production environment and well-being and health
of its employees. That means investments in clean
production, resulting in the ability to do more with
less. In other words, this attitude leads to the use
of less raw materials, less energy, more benefits
for workers and in the end, more advantages for
customers. The use of renewable wood led Artefama
to winning the Fritz Müller award from FATMA, the
Santa Catarina’s state environmental protection
agency. And for the last two years, it has been
nominated for the Green Best Award, Brazil’s most
important sustainable consumption and initiative
prize. In this way, Artefama has made itself known
in the world and earned the respect from importers
from dozens of countries.
In order to ensure products that truly reduce the use
of raw materials to a minimum, achieving the goal
of meeting client demands (functional and esthetic)
and rationalizing material consumption, Artefama
created its GreenHome seal. This is not merely a seal
that attests to the origin of a piece’s raw materials,
it has a variety of specific objectives:
a)
Defend the spread of sustainable forest
management practices, from both the
environmental and social point of view;
b)
Promote furniture project/design concerned
with preventing environmental impact of products
and reducing the production of waste and pollution
during each stage of the furniture’s life cycle;
c)
Promote constant improvements in processes,
products and technology in such a way as to
minimize environmental impact; promote
improvements and health in the work environment
and reduce all possible risks to end user health;
d)
Teach consumers, improving environmental
information on ecologically friendly furniture and
making it more transparent.
Based on these principles, Artefama has been
designing quality furniture with quality design
and increased added value. One example is the
Caruaru line, signed by renowned designer Marcelo
Rosenbaum, another champion of environment and
social policies. Creator of the “A Gente Transforma”
(literally, “We Transform Things”) project in
the state of Piauí’s Chapada do Araripe region,
Rosenbaum created the Caruaru collection in honor
of the world’s largest outdoor market, the one in
Caruaru. This line, which is being shown at ABIMAD,
will be sold in Brazil by Brasita, the distribution
company that is responsible for selling big Italian
furniture brands like Arper and Moroso.
