On Style and the Look
Na região de La Rochelle, próximo ao mar e às
terras onde viviam seus pais, dedicou-se por
dez anos à criação de cavalos. Em 1987, decidiu
voltar a Paris e retomar o design em voo solo.
Tornar-se um decorador “total”, ou seja, ao
mesmo tempo mestre em arquitetura, criador e
designer de móveis a maçanetas e ambientador
de espaços ao mesmo tempo minimalistas e
poéticos, deve-se muito ao esforço e talento
próprios. Quando abriu seu estúdio, dispensando
o supérfluo, impondo o cinza clarinho nas
paredes, tons masculinos nos estofados e
trabalhando com madeiras africanas, o look
escandinavo louro e branco ainda era sucesso
total em meio à decoração moderna
na Europa e nos Estados Unidos.
Dois livros publicados em 2004 e 2008, e
editados pela Flammarion e pela Thames and
Hudson, trazem fotos de seus incontáveis
trabalhos nos mais variados lugares do mundo
e são um testemunho de como o bom design
não envelhece e não se perde na onda do
modismo. Não importa se iates no Atlântico
ou no Mediterrâneo; se enormes mansões em
Genebra, Toronto ou na Galícia; se townhouses
em Nova Iorque, lofts no Soho; se hotéis como
o Montalambert em Paris e o Sereno em St.
Barths, cabanas em Bora Bora, ou residências
de famosos como Calvin Klein, Kenzo e Bryan
Adams em qualquer lugar do mundo, o fato é
que a grife Liaigre parece ter vindo para ficar e
se expandir. Em 2011 um grande showroom foi
inaugurado em Nova Iorque, e São Paulo será o
outro único lugar fora da Europa a ter um grande
espaço Liaigre.

dedicated himself to breeding horses for ten
years. in 1987, he decided to return to paris
and return to design as an independent. his
becoming a “complete” decorator, in other
words, being at one and the same time a
master of architecture, creator and designer of
furniture, doorknobs and designer of spaces at
once minimalist and poetic, owes much to his
own hard work and talent. when he opened his
studio, doing away with superfluous details,
painting the walls a light gray, with masculine
colors on the furniture and making use of
african wood, the scandinavian blond and
white was still an absolute success in the
midst of modern decoration in europe
and the united states.
two books, published in 2004 and 2008 and

to how good design ages well and is never left
behind by waves of fads. it might be on yachts
in the atlantic and mediterranean; enormous
mansions in geneva, toronto or galícia;
townhouses in new york, lofts in soho; hotels

in st. barths, cottages in bora bora; or the
homes of celebrities like Calvin Klein, Kenzo and
bryan adams, anywhere in the world, the fact is
that the Liaigre label is here to stay and grow. in
