Em São Paulo, em plenos Jardins, numa casa
antiga com interior repaginado na Avenida
Gabriel Monteiro da Silva, um novo showroom
será inaugurado em maio próximo. É o famoso e
bem sucedido designer francês Christian Liaigre,
já entronizado no panteão dos grandes mestres
do design no mundo, apostando no Brasil.
E trazendo para nosso convívio seus móveis de
linhas rigorosamente retas e nos quais o luxo se
esconde atrás da pureza do design, da qualidade
da mão de obra e está presente no esmero
como são tratados o couro costurado na melhor
tradição da selaria francesa e as madeiras
exóticas escuras com que são confeccionados.
Apesar de nossa indústria poder se ressentir ao
ver tantos designers e marcas se estabelecendo
no Brasil, vale a nova e próxima vizinhança pela
possibilidade de convívio com uma marca que
transpira gosto e estilo e é um exemplo de como
o verdadeiro luxo mora na simplicidade.
Christian Liaigre formou-se em Belas Artes em
Paris no final dos anos sessenta. Aprendeu arte,
cultura e sobretudo a valorizar o trabalho do
artesão numa cidade que fervia culturalmente e
colaborou como designer em algumas empresas
como a conhecida Nobilis Fontan. No entanto,
decepcionado com os movimentos políticos
estudantis de 1968, foi viver no interior.

a new showroom will be inaugurated next May.
The famous and successful French designer
Christian Liaigre, who is already enthroned in
the Pantheon of world design masters, is now
betting on Brazil. He is bringing us his furniture
for close examination, with its strictly straight
lines where luxury can be found in the purity
of the design, quality of the craftsmanship and
is also present in the diligence with which the
leather is sewn in classic French style and the
dark, exotic woods they are made with.
Even though our own manufacturers might
resent seeing so many designers and brands
setting up shop in Brazil, these new neighbors
are worth it in terms of the possibility of getting
close to a brand that breathes good taste and
style and is an example of how true luxury lies
in simplicity.
Christian Liaigre earned his degree in art in
Paris at the end of the Nineteen-Sixties. He
learned art, culture and especially how to value
the work of artisans in a culturally thriving city,
and collaborated as a designer with several
companies, such as the well known Nobilis
Fontan. However, disappointed with the
student movements of 1968, he went to live
in the countryside.
